1. Course Description
ERW101 is designed to equip students with the reading and writing
skills required to tackle with academic work and every day usage to provide the
students with the sufficient ability to be of practical use in their fields of
study and work such as collecting, analyzing and organizing information,
communicating ideas and information as well as using technology. Importantly,
this course offers students instruction on the process of reading and writing
on how to read and write a comprehensive and well-formed words, phrases, sentences,
paragraphs, and essays to prove their reading and writing competences in
English in an academic context with specific vocabulary. The course also offers
students a chance to read and analyze a variety of professional articles, essays
and writing samples. This will run for 3 hours every week for a total of 45
hours within 15 weeks.
2. Course Objectives
After the
course the students will be able to:
- Develop knowledge and skills in writing, reading,
comprehending, interpreting and responding to a variety of texts.
- Developing written communication skills, through
composing a variety of texts engaged in personal and social activities
- Develop knowledge and skills in producing texts
using a variety of media and technology.
- Develop knowledge and skills in viewing and
interpreting a range of materials.
- Uses a sufficient range of vocabulary to write
appropriately.
- Achieve the reading proficiency at a minimum English
proficiency level of CEF B1 level (IELTS 3.5).
