English Level 1 (Grammar & Writing)

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

  The course English Level I – Grammar & Writing (EL101) is an English skill course that focuses on a high-beginning writing for English language learners in academic settings. It leads students for effective sentences structure in a straightforward manner; it also guides the students several standard patterns of organizations throughout grammar and punctuations to write the effective sentences types such as simple sentences, compound sentences, complex sentences and compound complex sentences.

 

Interestingly, this course is designed to lead students in developing their writing skills for paragraphs writing and short essay writing. It will guide the students to write different paragraphs and practice relevant grammar points in order to write their writing tasks more interestingly, and it will surely help the students to become good English academic writers. This course will run for 3 hours every week for a total of 45 hours within 15 weeks. 

COURSE OBJECTIVES

This course is aim at:

ü  Building students’ ability toward new idea in paragraphs and short essay writing;

ü  Adding new strategies on writing professionally by understanding and thinking critically about current assignments to accurate abilities of writing with the methods of grammar usages;

ü  Providing students with variety styles of writings;

ü  Developing students’ ability in paragraphs and short essay writing in a qualified standard;

ü  Engaging students in active learning through thoughtful discussion, cooperative activities; research and exposition; and

ü  Demonstrating the structures of sentences and other types of sentences with the appropriate punctuation in writing.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

After finishing this course, all students will be able to:

ü  Identify the difference kinds of writing organizations;

ü  Have outstanding skills with the writing in real work;

ü  Possess sufficient general and practical knowledge and feel confident enough to be able to write their assignments, proposals, projects or research by using their incomes of this course;

ü  Develop their skill of writing correctly to increase the other main skills for doing communications with the foreigners;

ü  Have confidence in writing their tasks with the formal or in formal writing;

ü  Clarify the use of the system of grammar for writing smoothly with appreciation;

ü  Apply the correct structure of writing;

ü  Improve English proficiency in writing skills; and

ü  Communicate by using writing skill more effectively.
